It helps to remember that when it comes to crime, drugs and alcohol play a dual role.

That’s why I’d welcome more research into the tapering process, with an eye to improving success rates.

Then word hits the street of a new product that can make you feel almost like your first time… No wonder they come running. And some never wake up.

If a life in balance is the ideal, then a broader approach has a better shot at sustainability.

Assumption: Without that reinforcement, use will simply stop on its own.

When you’re addicted, it’s probably more correct to say that your addiction is abusing you. And will continue to do so if allowed.

As we move to correct this problem, we’ll discover that millions of Americans, regular tax-paying citizens included, are already dependent on them.

Having read the research, I’m confident it’s not just a matter of decision-making, or willpower, or even depression.

When the push to use more opioids for pain began, we kept hearing that there were 100 million chronic pain patients in the United States, most of whom were untreated (or undertreated).

We should anticipate that many patients with opioid disorders will also be in treatment for some chronic medical disorder.
